Association of Division III Independents Names 2013 All-Independent Baseball Teams

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--- University of Maine-Presque Isle first baseman Carlos Villoria and pitcher Jake Fillebrown, and St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) pitcher Rosario DiLorenzo earned top honors on the 2013 All-Independent Baseball teams named today by the Association of Division III Independents.

Villoria, a senior from Caracas, Venezuela, was named the player of the year after hitting .446 with 62 hits, 24 runs scored, 16 doubles, 34 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases. He set school records for hits and batting average, and he also had 22 multi-hit games.

DiLorenzo, a freshman from Howard Beach, N.Y., was named the co-pitcher of the year after he went 5-2 with a 3.41 earned-run average. DiLorenzo pitched four complete games and two shutouts. In 63.1 innings, he allowed only 55 hits with 56 strikeouts and only 19 walks.

DiLorenzo shared pitcher-of-the-year honors with Fillebrown, a senior from Stoneham, Maine. Fillebrown was 3-5 with a 3.76 earned-run average. He also had four complete games and two shutouts, and he struck out 42 in 52.2 innings of work.

Finlandia University outfielder Ricardo Senclair was named the Rookie of the Year. The freshman from El Paso, Tex., hit .319 and led the team in batting average, at bats, hits, doubles, triples and total bases.

St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) head coach Scott Losche and Maine-Presque Isle's Leo Saucier were selected as the co-recipients of the AD3I coach-of-the-year award.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 10 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
