ROCHESTER, MN – The men's basketball team used a balanced attack, with five players in double-digit scoring, while easily handling the Crossroads College Knights, despite a 38-point outburst from Andy Carson, winning their third game, 79-67 on Friday evening.

The game began with Carson making the team's first two out of three shots, putting the Knights on top, 7-4, but a layup by junior guard Tanner Moses (Lodi, WI), and a three-pointer by David Wenthold () evened the game at seven apiece.

Carson came right back, making two straight baskets to give the Knights a 15-12 lead, halfway through the first period, but the lead teetered back and forth for the next few minutes with three tie scores, the last on a jumper by Crossroads, at 19-19 with six minutes remaining.

But Maranatha flipped the switch, beginning with a layup by freshman guard Clayton Morrison (Jefferson, WI), and the team shot 45% from the field in the first half while carrying a 38-29 lead at halftime.

The Crusader offense heated up in the second half behind Wenthold, Brady Moses, and Brett Cashner (Urbana, IL), who each had eight points apiece in guiding their team to leads as big as 21 points. Crossroads did make a comeback attempt with seven minutes left in the game, piecing together a 14-3 run, cutting the deficit to 68-61 with three and a half minutes remaining.

But Brady Moses hit two crucial free-throws on the next possession, and brother, Tanner, had five straight points to boost the lead back to 10 and Maranatha held on for the win.

Brady Moses finished a strong, all-around game with 17 points, 5 steals, three assists and four rebounds while Wenthold had 16 points and seven rebounds.

Cashner and Tanner Moses finished with 15 and 12 points respectively.

The Crusaders wait a week to face Dominican, on Saturday, January 18, at 2:00 p.m. in River Forest, IL.
