CHICAGO, IL – Maranatha continued its winning ways on Tuesday evening with a 93-63 thrashing of the Illinois Institute Red Hawks, and improving to 9-13 on the season. Maranatha has now logged three more wins than last season, and have been doing so with a potent offensive game.

The Crusaders didn't need to shoot lights out against the Red Hawks, shooting 45% from the field, and 41% from the three-point line, but Maranatha displayed good ball movement, which led to four players with at least 11 points.

This time, freshman forward Adam Courtney (Guthrie Center, IA) went on a tear, hitting six of his 10 shots from beyond the arc, for 20 points, while grabbing three rebounds.

The team's leading scorer, Brady Moses (Lodi, WI), posted 13 points, and grabbed six rebounds while dishing out three assists in 20 minutes, and was part of a team-wide effort that led to a lopsided, 17-4 Maranatha advantage, in assists.

Maranatha held a 43-28 halftime lead, and outscored the Red Hawks by the same point margin in the second half, at 50-35, and a team-wide effort gave Maranatha a 40-32 rebound edge. Maranatha especially dominated the offensive glass, 19-9, and took advantage of 24 Red Hawk turnovers.

The team also fared well at the free-throw line, shooting 77% in the second half, and 73% in the game.

Junior center Brett Cashner (Urbana, IL) contributed 11 points, and four rebounds, while junior forward Jackson Miller (Marinette, WI) had a solid game, going 5-6 from the field for 13 points.

The Crusaders look for their 10th win, this time against Lincoln Christian, on Thursday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m.
