OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named Nebraska Wesleyan University men's basketball guard Trey Bardsley its Student-Athletes of the Month for the month of February.
Bardsley, a sophomore from Beatrice, Nebraska, had an outstanding month of February leading Nebraska Wesleyan in scoring at 19.4 points per game while helping the team win six of the eight games played during the month. From his point guard position, Bardsley went over 20 points in four of eight games, including a career-high 28 points in a win over NAIA Division II National Tournament qualifier Morningside College. The sophomore came back the following week and scored 21 points in an upset of Hastings College on the road. Bardsley shot 51.1 percent from the field, hitting 42.3 percent (22-of-52) of his attempts from beyond the arc and shot 94.9 percent (37-of-39) at the charity stripe. The guard also pulled down 4.9 rebounds per game and dished out 18 assists with only nine turnovers.
