OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named Nebraska Wesleyan University men's basketball guard Trey Bardsley its Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of January.
Bardsley, a junior from Beatrice, Nebraska, averaged 24.8 points per game leading Nebraska Wesleyan to a 6-2 record during the month of January. The Prairie Wolves had just three wins entering the month, but picked up six conference wins to improve their overall record to 9-10. Bardsley led the team in scoring in seven of the eight games, including a career-high 48 points versus Northwestern on January 24th for the second highest scoring output in Nebraska Wesleyan history. Bardsley scored at least 20 points in six of eight games and went 31-of-65 from beyond the arc during that stretch. The junior was 37-of-43 from the charity stripe and is currently on a stretch of 17 consecutive made free throws. Bardsley also averaged 5.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 steals to fill out the stat sheet.
