OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named Nebraska Wesleyan University men's basketball guard Trey Bardsley, its Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of December.
Bardsley, a senior from Beatrice, Nebraska, earns Student-Athlete of the Month honors for the second straight month after averaging 27.5 points, 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds as Nebraska Wesleyan went 3-1 during the month. The one-time Player of the Week during the month shot 53.9 percent from the floor and 48.8 percent from downtown, playing 164 of the possible 165 minutes of action. Against Northwestern College, the senior set a new career best with nine made three-pointers in the Prairie Wolves' 97-92 win over on December 19th, scoring 33 points in the process. Bardsley shot an impressive 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the field in the win and went 9-of-13 from long distance. The nation's leader at all levels in three-pointers made per game put up another 30-point outing in Nebraska Wesleyan's triumph over Morningside on December 5th, adding eight assists. The senior scored at least 20 points in all four games during December and currently averages an Association-best 30.4 points per game.
