OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The College of New Rochelle freshman forward Hunter Schenkel (Sayville, N.Y.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents men's basketball Player of the Week. Schenkel averaged 23.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game as the Blue Angels went 1-1 on the week. The freshman opened up the week with 28 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor and 11-of-13 shooting from the charity stripe in New Rochelle's victory over John Jay on Wednesday. The forward concluded the week with 19 points and five rebounds against fellow AD3I member Valley Forge on Saturday. Schenkel shot 52.4 percent from the floor on the week and leads the Blue Angels with 18.4 points per game.
