OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Illinois Institute of Technology sophomore guard Malik Howze (Detroit, Mich.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents men's basketball Player of the Week. Howze averaged 18.0 points, 8.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as the Scarlet Hawks went 2-0. The guard began the week with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting in a 75-74 victory over Moody Bible on Tuesday. The sophomore would follow that up with 16 points, 14 assists and six rebounds in a win over Lincoln Christian on Thursday. Howze shot 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from the floor on the week and takes home Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.
