OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named University of Maine-Presque Isle softball pitcher Krista Coffin, its Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of April.
Coffin is a senior from Presque Isle, Maine. The pitcher had a strong all-around month for Maine-Presque Isle as she hit .359 (14-for-39) and had an on base percentage of .419 for the Owls in 16 games this month. The senior also won two games in the circle during April and struck out 58 batters this month in only 43 1/3 innings. Coffin is battlng injuries, yet continues to lead a young Maine-Presque Isle squad with her gritty determination and is among the best hitters in AD3I and ranks among the NCAA leaders in strikeouts per seven innings. The pitcher had her best start of the month against Trinity (D.C.) on April 3rd as she tossed a complete game one-hitter with 12 strikeouts to seal the win.
