Nebraska Wesleyan made just two field goals in the first half going the final 15:55 without a made basket as Hastings College built up a big halftime lead and the 5th-ranked Broncos went on to a 82-47 win on Wednesday night (Feb. 12) in GPAC women's basketball action.
NWU scored over half of their points at the free throw line going 25-32 at the free throw stripe and making just 11 total field goals for the game. The Prairie Wolves shot only 10.5 percent in the first half hitting 2-19 from the field to fall behind 44-14 at halftime.
Hastings College shot 43.5 percent for the game, while NWU was only 26.2 percent. The Broncos had 20 more shot attempts than the Prairie Wolves as NWU committed 29 total turnovers.
Bridget Bucher and Courtney Cook both scored in double figures for the Prairie Wolves. Bucher scored 14 points hitting 8-9 at the free throw line, while Cook scored all 11 of her points at the free throw line.
Hastings was led by Shanelle Farmer with 12 points on 4-8 from 3-point range.
