OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named Maranatha Baptist University volleyball middle blocker Alison Renz its Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of September.
Renz is a junior from Lake Mills, Wisconsin. The middle blocker ended the month with a league-high 191 kills and 3.47 kills per set as the Sabercats went 12-5 to begin the season. The junior finished with double-digit kills in 12 of the 17 matches and hit an efficient .341 during the month. Renz also led the Association with 47 blocks and finished with a double-double against fellow AD3I member Finlandia on September 25th. The one-time Player of the Week slammed home a month-high 21 kills in Maranatha's five-set win over Marian on September 12th, ending the match with an impressive .475 hitting percentage. The junior concluded the month with double-digit kills in six of the last seven matches as the Sabercats closed September with seven straight wins.
