Hassell awarded Association of Division III Independents women’s volleyball Student-Athlete of the Month

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Illinois Institute of Technology freshman middle hitter Sara Hassell (Columbus, Ohio) has been tabbed the Association of Division III Independents women's volleyball Student-Athlete of the Month for September. The freshman's first month of her career was nothing short of outstanding. The middle hitter tallied 265 kills, 194 digs, 41 blocks, 24 service aces and a .077 hitting percentage during the month. Hassell had a streak of ten straight matches with double-digit kills, spanning from September 15 until September 30. The freshman also recorded four double-doubles during the month, including one in her first collegiate match at Oglethorpe on September 2nd. The one-time Player of the Week finished with a season-high 28 digs in the match and added 15 kills. In addition, the freshman had a season-high 23 kills along with 20 digs at Maranatha Baptist on September 23rd.
